"I was born and raised in a small town called Val Caron about 20 minutes north of the City of Sudbury. Growing up in the Greater City of Sudbury has given me the opportunity to experience our four incredible seasons enjoying such sports such as Hockey, Skiing, Hiking, Fishing, Hunting, Camping, Water Skiing and of course some incredible mud bogging. Sudbury is the only city in Canada that has a fresh water lake in the centre of our city, our province of Ontario host over 250,000 fresh water lakes, border to four of our great lakes and one Ocean. The Greater City of Sudbury also has the biggest Black Bear population anywhere in North America due to our vast landscape of Blueberries."

Whether it’s producing great hockey players like Todd Bertuzzi or being recognized as the nickel capital of the world, the Greater City of Sudbury has many accolades it can proudly say “is Sudbury’s own”. However, its only when you take a deeper look at what Sudbury has to offer that you really understand what makes it so special. To describe it briefly is nearly impossible, but in a phrase, Sudbury offers all the amenities and activities you would find in a big city and yet is small and tucked away enough to appeal to outdoor enthusiast from any walk of life. Home to one major university complete with a medical school and teachers college, two college’s, one English and one French, two major tourist attractions, three major shopping malls, and of course one global industry. Sudbury is the ideal place to start a career, settle down and/or raise a family. Not to mention, with countless fine dining restaurants, every major restaurant chain, diners, pub’s, sports bars, nightclubs, sports facilities, etc… the Sudbury social scene is never dull. For the more distinguished tastes, Sudbury offers a symphony orchestra, theatre center, and even a horse racing / OLG gaming facility.
However, the title “Greater City of Sudbury” truly earns its stripes when you step outside and take in what the north has to offer. Surrounded by countless lakes and panoramic vision of green forests, Sudbury is home to some of the best fishing, hiking, camping, hunting, canoeing, boating, off roading, snow machining, and etc… in Canada. With that in mind, one of Sudbury and Northern Ontario’s Greatest Champions is Sudbury’s own Larry Berrio. When he is not away performing, writing songs, or spending time with his family, Larry is actively working within our community to encourage everyone he meets to take in the “Great White North”. The Greater City of Sudbury’s proud heritage of hard work and care for the environment and wildlife resonates with Larry like no other.

As one of the greatest additions to Canadian Country music, Larry Berrio and the Greater City of Sudbury, are a match made in North Country heaven.
